So many British families used these tents for their summer holidays in the 60's and 70's that even the smell of these tents can evoke happy memories for those who remember them being transported down to the South of France or Spain on top of their Ford Cortina! These tents also enjoyed second lives as glorified garden gazebos for parties and family gatherings, they are nice and tall and generously sized. The tent frame is made from tubular steel, you simply put it together and then throw over the canvas, put up the lower sections of the legs and it is up, there are guys at the corner and peg loops all along the waterproof skirt. This tent has two side windows, one is opening with a fixed mosquito net, a front porch, a single front door opening with side windows.
PLEASE NOTE - NO PEGS ARE INCLUDED WITH THIS TENT! I have plenty more photos of this tent, please message me if you would like any more or have any further questions! ALL PHOTOS TAKEN THIS YEAR, MARCH 2022, ON A PERFECTLY DRY DAY. SIZE: Taken from the lowest point/footprint, the tent measures approximately: 365cm (12.00") wide, 410m (13.5") deep, 205cm (6' 9) tall at the top of the frame.
Porch extends out 90cm (3'00) from the front of the tent. CONDITION - PLEASE READ: This tent has been used and is around 50 years old, subsequently it is nowhere near mint, however it is ready for use as it is (You just need pegs). There is fade to the cotton canvas primarily to the external orange colour panels which have faded to a light brown but the canvas is not rotten or covered in black mildew marks And it does not reek! The cotton canvas seems to have retained its integrity though it would probably benefit from a re-proof with a spray if you planned on using it in the rain, this is a boring but easy enough job with aerosol or pump sprayed products. The zips are all original and work as they should, the rubber peg loops and window loops are perished and would benefit from replacing but not beyond use, the opening window shows a small hole but all of the PVC areas retain their integrity and are not fragile and still supple. A number of the pole springs have gone, this makes no difference to the usability of the tent but makes putting the frame together a little harder if you are not familiar with it, these could be replaced, the poles are nice and straight and I got this tent up in very quick time, about 30 mins, on my own with no instructions! This tent is looking to find a good new home, it would be ideal for parties or for nights away for those who appreciate vintage tentage or have a thing for the Carry On Camping vibe.
